Geoffresh.com now has Valid XHTML and CSS!
Hello All!
Geoffresh.com is happy to announce that it now has two new images on the site that are located directly underneath the Dreamhost Green Site button!
But what do these cool new buttons mean? Well, Geoffresh.com is now running valid XHTML AND CSS! What is XHTML and CSS you say? XHTML stands for Extensible Hypertext Markup Language and that is what Geoffresh.com is using to display the page. The CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets, is used to make the pretty colors and formats the page. So for every theme you see on Goeffresh.com, there is a specific CSS for it!
So why are we making such a big deal about this? Well, there is an organization called the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) who have started to standardize the code that is used on websites. That way, both web developers and web browser designers can work toward a common goal of making the web beautiful and productive place. If a web browser has standardized code to work off of, and the web designer codes their site in that proper format, the site will appear the same in the browser for all users! So now we know that one of our visitors will have the same viewing experience as another! Oh, did I forget to mention the speed upgrade? By having proper XHTML and CSS the web browser does not have to take time "guessing" where objects on the page should be! So the pages will load much quicker!
Also, Geoffrey has just finished working on a research project on how to improve the performance of Content Management Systems and Geoffresh.com has benefited from it completely! Geoffresh.com is now running at a 140% performance increase from the previous version!

Geoffresh.com Gets an Upgrade!
Whew! it's been a while since our last update. Although it may look like we have all gone on vacation, we have actually been hard at work on the back end of the site. During these past few months, we have upgraded a few core components to increase the functionality of geoffresh.com. The website now has an updated photo system which works better with our core code. The most notable changes would be to our video and commenting systems that have been completely changed out and now sport a new classy interface. Now you are able to view the videos by category as well as see what others are watching! With all of these upgrades, it looks like we haven't had any time to plan for our next production... Or have we? |
